An Application of Equivalence Transformations to Reaction Diffusion Equations

In this paper, we consider a quite general class of advection reaction diffusion systems. By using an equivalence generator, derived in a previous paper, the authors apply a projection theorem to determine some special forms of the constitutive functions that allow the extension by one of the two-dimensional principal Lie algebra. As an example, a special case is discussed at the end of the paper.

The Whitham principle for multikink solutions of reaction-diffusion equations

An useful strategy for the study of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDE) arising in pattern formation is to consider asymptotic solutions containing one or several localized defects and to simplify the dynamics by finding the equations of motion of the system of interacting defects. The great advantage of this approach is that we are dealing with ordinary differential equations (ODEs)...

Averaging principle for a class of stochastic reaction–diffusion equations

We consider the averaging principle for stochastic reaction–diffusion equations. Under some assumptions providing existence of a unique invariant measure of the fast motion with the frozen slow component, we calculate limiting slow motion. The study of solvability of Kolmogorov equations in Hilbert spaces and the analysis of regularity properties of solutions, allow to generalize the classical ...

Application of Operator Splitting to Solve Reaction Diffusion Equations

Approximate solutions of the Fisher equation obtained by different splitting methods are investigated. The error of this nonlinear problem is analyzed. The order of different splitting methods coupled with numerical methods of different order is calculated numerically and symbolically.

On an invariance principle for differential-algebraic equations with jumps and its application to switched differential-algebraic equations

We investigate the invariance properties of a class of switched systems where the value of a switching signal determines the current mode of operation (among a finite number of them) and, for each fixed mode, its dynamics are described by a Differential Algebraic Equation (DAE). Motivated by the lack of invariance principles of switched DAE systems, we develop such principles for switched DAE s...
